More Changes
I've updated the calendar through the end of the year, both for ACWA and our fellow clubs in PACWR. Just one more announcement to make.
The Webmaster is an appointed position; I wasn't elected by you. Which means I have no public mandate; rather, I serve at the pleasure of the Board. I'm personal friends with about half the people on the Board, but met with the full Board for the first time at Knight's Ferry a couple months ago. They have set some new ground rules for the website:
- Website accounts are for current club members only. This means every single signup has to be verified by the Webmaster (me). Please be patient.
- Discussions belong in the Forum, which is for members only. If you want to comment on something on the site (eg. an event), please create a new discussion in the Forum.
- All comments are subject to review by the Webmaster.
- The front page of ACWA.org has been changed to be more "public facing." Member-only info is on the member's landing page; log in to see it.
Please remember that we are a public nonprofit and this is a "public facing" website. Our mission is public education, and everything we do is on display. These changes are mostly meant to ensure that we present a good face to the public. We are a fantastic organization made up of wonderful people, and the website should reflect that.
If you don't like these rules, you are welcome to make your feelings known to your elected representatives. This is a democratic club and we have a system in place. The system works very well and I'm glad it's there. Also please remember that all of us, the Board and myself included, are unpaid volunteers, doing this out of the kindness of our hearts and out of love for our incredible hobby and this incredible club.
If you like the way things are being run, please mention that too.
Sincerely,
--Jordan I. Koplowicz, Captain & Webmaster
