AMERICAN CIVIL WAR

DUNCAN MILLS 2008
Here are pictures of the exciting times the members and especially
the many spectators had Saturday and Sunday. It is said the the troops
behaved themselves admirably on and off the field.

Major Chris Bowman.

Pictured above are Sgt. Sandy Marlow and 2nd Lt. Mark Price who organized contributions to replace a 50 cal. Kentucky single shot muzzle pistol and a 36 cal. Colt Naval revolver that were stolen from Private Quinn Neves (below). During the fires around Paradise this summer, Neves and his family had to evacuate their home and while they were gone, some thieves broke into the house and took the guns and other valuables. The entire Confederate Brigade pitched in for replacements and cheered during the ceremony when the guns were presented to Private Neves. The house was saved by the fire fighters. Sandy and Mark are both with the Richmond Fayette Artillery.

Kyle Leber, flag bearer  for the Confederate Brigade was struck by a Yankee stray mini ball during the first battle Saturday, knocking him to the ground, but the brave boy got to his feet, picked up the flag and stood like a "stone wall" defying the shot and shells whizzing past him. The crowd cheered him on. But alas, he was mortally wounding during the second battle and the crowd wept. He will be remembered as a Hero!

Pictured above is Miss "MJ" Judie Adams, camp cook for the 69th New York Volunteers and her daughter, Rebecca . Her son, Nathan is also a member of the 69th. Miss Judie's cooking is the envy of the entire ACWA club. On several occasions, the Confederates tried to kidnap her and bring her to their camp to be their cook, but the brazen attempts failed when the boys of the 69th sent the rebels running! The boys of  the 69th say they will never have to travel on an empty stomach with Miss Judie around!
