Newsletter

I've been speaking with Mike Musante from the 20th ME for a year now, and I'm finally taking over his newsletter.  Well, not entirely; Mike might still produce newletters, and he deserves a big thanks for curating the mailing list all these years.  In addition, he's the one with his "ear to the ground" collecting news on upcoming events in the greater reenacting community.

Benefits of the new newsletter:

Ball Canceled

I'm sorry to announce that the ACWA ball has been canceled for this year.  There is no official explanation, but I think it's because of the low ticket sales.  I know the ball committee received a lot of feedback from members saying that the ball was too far away, too expensive, the building wasn't fancy enough, it was too large (or too small), and I know the committee has been working hard to address all these concerns.  It looked like we had a great venue last year in Sacramento . . . until the building got condemned.

New site: PACWR

I've updated the website for our parent organization, PACWR.  Please check it out: http://pacwr.org

2013 Candidate Statements

Below are the candidate statements for the 2013 election.  This page will be updated as more statements come in.

Santa Margarita Out; Fresno In

I'm sad to say the Santa Margarita event has been canceled.  The decision was made by the owner and I'm sure all of us are disappointed by it.

The good news: Kearney Park is now an official ACWA event.  Hopefully this will mean a much better reenacting experience this year.

Gettysburg 150th Anniversary Reenactment

Captain Jordan Koplowicz of the 69th New York is gathering reenactors for the 150th anniversary reenactment of the Battle of Gettysburg, which will take place next year.  For more information, please see the "California Contingent" home page: http://69thnewyork.com/gettysburg
